HISTORY

Bobby Donnell started The Practice with Rebecca Washington (see CAST) as his assistant.  As the years passed, the firm grew and eventually Lindsay Dole came to work at Donnell and Associates.  Nothing happened between Bobby and Lindsay the first season...minus a cute scene in the first episode when Lindsay asked Bobby if he had a girlfriend (foreshadowing if you will).  There were some awesome cases, the most prominent one being the case against Lindsay's former law professor - Anderson Pearson (who later appears in seasons 2, 3 and 6) - the tobacco case that, when settled (due to Lindsay's amazing opening statement - flawless! You MUST see this!), gave the firm it's first (and much needed, as they were on the verge of eviction) big win. Note: for those who haven't watched from the beginning, the show started with Bobby, Rebecca, Lindsay, Eugene and Ellenor working at the firm - Jimmy appeared in the first ones, too, but didn't join the firm until the second or third episode; Helen didn't come on the show until the second season.

SEASON 2:  Blind to the audience, Bobby and Lindsay began a secret recreational affair sometime in the first or second season.  They ended their relationship when Bobby became attracted to Lindsay's best friend, district attorney Helen Gamble (see MEMORABLE EPISODES and CAST).  However, their affair was rather short lived (five episodes or so), and Bobby was out on his own again.

Soon after the break up, Lindsay told the firm that she wanted to become a partner.  This enraged Bobby, as she simply blurted it out without consulting him first.  Mad or not, though, he granted Lindsay her wish:  she, Ellenor, Eugene and Rebecca were given pieces of the pie.  The firm was now known as Donnell, Young, Dole and Frutt.  It was at this time as well that Lindsay confessed to Bobby that she was in love with him - he was shocked, and offered her exactly what she expected: nothing.

As SEASON THREE (side note: major event other than B&L - Rebecca passes the bar and begins practicing law, and Lucy Hatcher (see CAST) takes over the receptionist position) started, the first episode gave hints that Bobby and Lindsay still cared deeply for one another.  She comforted him as he dealt with the sadness and shame of how he had treated his father in the past, and how he regretted never talking about him; he comforted her as she went on an emotional roller coaster in trying/appealing the case against her favorite law professor and friend, Anderson Pearson, which led to a kiss.

A month passed, and finally a confused Bobby asked Lindsay about their kiss.  At first they didn't talk about it, but later he asked again and she told him that she wanted to be with someone who could take her away from their work.  She could fall in love with him all over again if she lets herself, but she won't.

The following week Christmas arrived.  The firm went to trial, as they had been sued by a family of a victim from a past trial for attacking the son on the stand.  Bobby and Lindsay continued to dance around each other, but nothing happened, as he respected her wishes.  The firm won their case, and celebrated their victory and the holiday at their office Christmas party.  Everything changed as Bobby and Lindsay went off alone to his office. An apology from Lindsay and an innocent Christmas kiss turned into a passionate embrace.  Lucy and Helen watched from the window as Bobby and Lindsay gave in to the feelings that had always been there.

Some minor ups and downs happened as Ellenor had problems with Lindsay making so much money, and she called her on her relationship with Bobby, saying that she was really "moving up" in the firm.  Bobby told Ellenor as (senior partner) to lay off Lindsay (basically), and later this scene occurred: Bobby and Lindsay are in her bathroom, Bobby is brushing his teeth and Lindsay is rubbing some lotion on her hands.  (L) "That's the last thing I need is for you to stick up for me."; (B) "I wasn't sticking up for you."; (L) "You tell her to lay off of me, what's that?! I can fight my own battles."; (B) "I was talking to her as senior partner - which I still am - that doesn't change anything just because..."; (L) "You're not senior partner here, Bobby."; (B) "Well, let's put our clothes back on, drive over to the office, and have the conversation there."; (L huffs and walks away, B follows); (B) "What?"; (L) "They're treating me differently ever since...like I'm Helen in some trojan (something I can't quite make out)..."; (B) "That's you're imagination."; (L sighs); (B) "Look, can you not handle this? Because we could go back to..."; (L) "Is that what you want? To go back?"; (B) "No."; (L) "I mean, it's causing a lot of...if you really wanna go back, I'll understand."; (B walks over to Lindsay, and tilts her chin up) "My New Years' resolution was, to move ahead."; (L) "And everybody certainly thinks that was mine, don't they?"; (B) "You care what they think?"; (L) "Yes!"; (B) "But you care more about what I think, right?" (L nods) "I'm not going anywhere. I'd rather fire you." (he grins); (L grins) "You can't just fire me, I'm partner."; (B) "Yeah, you are...mine."; (they kiss and he walk them blindly to her bed, and they fall back onto it; the scene ends with them kissing passionately...).  The next couple of episodes have a judge having erotic dreams about Bobby, and Lindsay being jealous as he represents her in a sexual harassment claim against her, then Ellenor and Lindsay fight (literally) on and around the conference room table.  However, the grudge ends in the following episode, as Ellenor comes to realize what true partners really are, and tells Lindsay she is sorry for the way she's treated her - that she knows Lindsay is one of them.

The season finale brought trauma to the couple, as Lindsay was attacked by former client, George Vogelman.  Having had to find her dying, and then watch her for days in a coma, Bobby realized that he couldn't live without Lindsay.  As the episode came to an end, Helen tearfully (happy tears, for some odd reason the trio has been able to look away from the past and be best friends - Helen being pretty much the couple's #1 fan) looked on as Bobby poured his heart out to Lindsay, asking for her hand in marriage.  She said *yes*.

During SEASON 4, Bobby and Lindsay were engaged and it couldn't have been rockier:

1. George Vogelman (who wasn't caught at this point) came back and terrorized the firm, bringing back all the pain of Lindsay's stabbing.  She was upset that Bobby had tried to forget the past, instead of talking about it with her.  He apologized, and they made up.

2. Lindsay had her wedding dress made, and couldn't have been more excited about it.  She went to show Bobby the material, and it turned out that he expected her to wear his mother's wedding dress.  It was truly hideous, but Lindsay didn't want to hurt Bobby's feelings.  An office fashion show is followed by a blowout in which Lindsay admitted to herself and Bobby all that she feared about him hiding his emotions and never letting her in, and told him that she didn't want to marry him.  Helen went to Bobby and talked some sense into him.  He later went to Lindsay (at Helen's), and told her this: I haven't totally figured out how to let people in my life.  What you said...the things you fear, probably all true.  But this idea that I don't want to share my life - that I don't want a partner - that I reject.  I love you Lindsay.  Whatever I have to do to convince you of that...to earn the right to go on loving you...for the rest of my life...I'll do it.  She tells him that he has to let her in, he says that he will, she says that she won't wear *that* dress, and he says "forget the dress."  She says "okay, let's get married."  He smiled brightly as he took her into his arms and sighed in relief.  He had his Linds back.

3. Bobby was kidnapped by a former client.

4. Bobby admitted that he hates weddings, and would rather elope, after Lindsay has spent months planning theirs alone.  She decided to surprise him with an elopement.  They get hitched on the season finale, at Fenway Park.  Now, all of Bobby's dreams have come true.

SEASON 5:  Within the first few episodes, the newlyweds (with the help of nosy Lucy) announce that they're expecting in five months; they had been keeping this special secret to themselves for a questionable amount of time.  BUT - Bobby and Lindsay had even MORE trouble coming their way.  Lindsay was stalked by a client, and Bobby trying to *scare* him with another client (who kills the man instead)- stands trial for the man's murder, while Lindsay is eight months pregnant with their son.  Bobby is acquitted, and moments later a bomb (sent by Hinks's (the stalker/client) probate attorney - who didn't know the contents; intended for Lindsay, as a message from the goon teases that he always likes to get the 'last laugh') goes off in the office, and the only employees present (Bec and Lucy) are both injured.  Lucy comes out with just a few stitches, but Bec goes into a coma and desperately needs a blood transfusion.  However, Bec and her mother's religion prevents the transfusion from being acceptable as treatment, and her mother won't back down from the tenant (said to be the most prominent one).  Bobby takes her to court, and loses the motion to allow the transfusion to happen.  Angry and emotional, Bobby stands and mouths off to the judge, and Lindsay starts to look uncomfortable.  Her water breaks and she falls to the floor in panic.  In shock, Bobby can't move, and stands, looking down at his wife as she gives birth to their son.  Bec's mother (once a nurse) delivers Bobby Junior, as the judge holds up Lindsay's head.  As the baby is placed in a crying Lindsay's arms, Bobby proudly looks on, then joins his family.  At the hospital, the trio is greeted by Jimmy and Lucy.  Lucy says "he's so cute" and Jimmy asks "are you okay?" Lindsay says she's fine, "short labor."  Lucy asks what his name is, and Bobby chimes "Robert." Jimmy says "you named him after YOU?" and Lucy says "what a SHOCK." (LOL)  Note: In the next episode, Rebecca woke up from her coma...with lots of confusion in between. he he he

SEASON 6: two major events:

1. Bobby feels *protective* of a female client, and Lindsay worries that he might have fallen in love with her.  But Bobby reassures Lindsay, telling her that he is only in love with one woman - her.

2. Lindsay is harassed by a cannibal.  Having had enough, and fearing her life, Lindsay shoots the man as Bobby watches in horror.  He dies, and Lindsay stands trial.  The season ends all too soon, as Lindsay is found guilty.

***The Practice, as of January of 2004, continues to aire new episodes on ABC and is currently at its eighth season. However, as many others, the show ended for me when DEK ruined characters (and broke up Bobby and Lindsay) in the seventh season (in which Lindsay DID get out of jail) and later fired Dylan, Kelli, Lisa, Lara, and Marla. Unless Dylan or Kelli choose to appear sometime in the future, the history and memorable episodes will most likely end here.***

MEMORABLE EPISODES

SEASON ONE:

  • "Pilot" (not really a Bobby and Lindsay episode, but there is one scene that you can't miss - it's the beginning of it all; anyway, it was just great!)
  • "Part V" - Lindsay's opening statement in the tobacco case (again, not Bobby and Lindsay, but just plain awesome!)

SEASON TWO:

  • "Save the Mule" - Bobby and Lindsay end their secret romance with a hot couch scene (that ended WAY too quickly) about three quarters through this episode
  • "Trees In the Forest" - Lindsay wants to be a partner and confesses that she is in love with Bobby; also, a rat comes into the office and makes for a few very funny scenes
  • "Food Chains" - Bobby and Lindsay continue to bicker over partnership, and he tells her he thinks the only reason she's doing this is because they're not sleeping together anymore; in the end, Bobby makes Lindsay, Eugene, Ellenor and Rebecca partners - assigning Lindsay the job of drafting the papers
  • "Rhyme & Reason" - (not an episode picked for B&L, but simply the comedic assets of Lindsay trying to bait and hook a case against an asbestos company.....(L) "John...calm down, John."; (E) "Hey, Lindsay? Been to any wild orgies lately?"...LMAO!!)

SEASON THREE (the most memorable):

(There are a lot of great episodes in this season, so, I'm gonna go with the best ones...)

  • "Body Count" - two things make this one a favorite of mine: 1.) Lindsay fearing she has let Pearson down and thinking people believe she's just "some lawyer that gets people acquittles."; Bobby tells her that she's a lot more than that and she tearfully says "I hope"; he kisses her on the forehead (sooooooooo sweet!) and looks like he's going to kiss-kiss her, but she moves, and they hug instead; and 2.) "What am I - a pineapple?"
  • "The Battlefield" - Bobby again comforts a distroyed Lindsay (she is trying to appeal the Pearson case), holding her as she sobs; later on, cliffhanger central: FINALLY - they kiss for the first time since the break-up. (SIGH) My tape is thisclose to being busted from watching this scene again and again and again....
  • "State of Mind" - An innocent Christmas-under-the-mistletoe kiss from Lucy makes Bobby think of what Lindsay really means to him. He brings up their kiss, and at first, she brushes him off.  Later, however, Bobby asks her if they are a 'couple' or a 'couple in waiting' and she tells him that she could fall in love with him all over again if she let herself, but she won't. The job is great, but for a life - she wants somebody who can pull her out of it.  Bobby clearly looks bothered.  There is also a cute scene with Lindsay and Helen having a (icing or cake mix?) fight that Bobby walks in on.  he he he
  • "Love and Honor" - THE ONE EVERY B&L FAN HAD BEEN WAITING FOR - They dance around each other, asking if they're taking a date to the Christmas party, etc., etc.; later, Helen concludes that Lindsay is still in love with Bobby, and tells her she's an idiot for not going for it.  At the office Christmas party, however, things change.  Lindsay tells Bobby that she doesn't mean to be cold, but she knows that it's not right - that for once, she's going with her head.  She moves in to give him a "Merry Christmas" kiss, but when their lips touch - the spark is too much to deny: Lindsay kisses him again, and he responds. Lucy and Helen watch the passionate embrace (Lucy: "Really exchanging fluids with that one") through the window. YAY!
  • "Split Decisions" - Partnership issues.  Basically, the last scene does it with the whole - "you can't just fire me, i'm partner" - "yeah, you are - mine." AWWWWWWEEEE
  • "Lawyers, Reporters, and Cockroaches" - This is probably on everybody's list as a favorite - why, you might ask?  Hmmmmmm......let's see: 1.) The beginning with Bobby and Lindsay on the desk (cut too short, IMHO, but still good); 2.) Don't we all love those little arguments B&L ALWAYS have? The closing arguments thingy was too cute to miss.; 3.) Lindsay's closing - too funny; 4.) The ultimate scene: Lindsay leaps across the conference table at Ellenor and they have the catfight of the century!  Great stuff!
  • "Closet Justice" - One of the few I picked for the purpose of the case tried; the nun-killer was a brilliant story - the egg throwing and the emotional confrontations between Helen and Lindsay, and them hugging and crying together at the end.......that's what makes powerful television, people.
  • "Happily Ever After" - The season finale; Lindsay is stabbed by Judge Kittleston...no, wait - it was the nun-killer dude....no - Joey Heric!  Actually, it was George Vogelman, but no one but the audience knows that - and that doesn't even happen until the last scene (Cliffhanger central again).  What makes this an incredible episode?  Brilliant story, beyond brilliant performances by Dylan McDermot, Kelli Williams (who was even in a coma for the majority of the ep, lol) and Lara Flynn Boyle, watching Bobby go through the pain of possibly losing Lindsay - admitting to himself and her that he's head over heels for her, and finally - the bedside proposal scene.  I killed this tape.

SEASON 4:

  • "Boston Confidential" - Can Bobby and Lindsay kiss or what?  Too bad Helen had to walk in.  Oh, well.  It was still good.  The case of a man accused of murdering his wife (B&L vs. Helen) was full of twists and turns, and Lindsay even agreed to move in with Bobby!  The scene with Helen telling Lindsay that she didn't want to "lose her" was priceless.  Too good for words.
  • "Loser's Keepers" - George Vogelman (who stabbed Lindsay) returns and harrasses the firm. Emotions run high as Lindsay is in fear again, and calls Bobby on not facing what happened to her.  The make-up-I'm-so-sorry scene is great, as Bobby kisses Lindsay's hand and allows her to tell him what she's feeling.  But it's even better to see Helen gun down the evil GV. YES!
  • "Marooned" - There's a wedding dress and it causes a lot of stress.  Lindsay calls off the wedding in fear that Bobby will always keep his emotions locked away from her.  With Helen's help, though, Bobby goes to Lindsay and says his piece.  She accepts his apology and his promise to be better, and she agrees to marry him.  Sweet, sweet, sweet.  I had tears in my eyes (such a softie, I know).
  • "Blowing Smoke" - "I need more sex." Bobby's reaction.  Lindsay's fears.  Bobby's reassurance.  The last scene with "I'm never gonna stop loving you" and the holding...  (SIGH) Nuff said.
  • "Day in Court" - Okay, so, there isn't much B&L stuff in this ep, but what IS in there and the other things that come in make this one a great one: 1.) The little things get me - when B&L are talking in his office, how she tries to comfort him as he is distressed, and how he in return ever so gently runs his fingers up and down her arm; 2.) The whole case with Bobby and Helen - the judge, the client attacking Helen, Helen screaming "he's not my boyfriend" as Richard declared he was, Helen's outburst at the end, Bobby's closing and getting PO'd at the juror who looked away from him and finally - the jail cell scene when Helen says "won't Lindsay be thrilled - you and me sharing a room again" (B: "Funny.") and the two sharing fries provided by the judge as the ep fades out. Def one to watch.
  • "Hammerhead Sharks" - This was actually second to a two-parter, but I thought this one was the better one.  The firm goes to LA to help Lindsay help a friend charged with murdering a woman he was suspected of having an internet-affair with.  Lindsay's brilliance in solving the case was awesome.  Loved it!
  • "Settling" - Bobby is kidnapped by one of his first clients - who was innocent.  The man (played by former New Kid on the Block member Donny Walberg) has just gotten out of prison and claims that Bobby didn't try hard enough to find the witness (whom he has also kidnapped) that would have got him off.  He is angered most by the fact that he lost his fiance'.  Lindsay, Helen, the firm and the police rally to find him.  Dylan and Kelli were really awesome.  Lindsay was crying and in panic as shots were fired within the house, and attempted to run inside, but was stopped by a cop.  Then, the police gun the man down, and Bobby is set free.  They hug and cry and it is so wonderful.  There's even a bed scene with Lindsay telling Bobby she thought she'd lost him and him saying that all he could see was her face the whole time......but now (shamed at how he handled things) all he could see was his.
  • "Life Sentence" - This episode was very good.  The case was Ellenor and Jimmy defending a woman who killed - in public - the man suspected of raping and murdering her young daughter.  Though the ending result blew (cuz she was found guilty), the acting by the actress (who was nominated for an Emmy for this) guest starring as the client was nothing short of amazing. I cried when she took the stand.  And to top it all off, there were several B&L assets that made this one wonderful: 1.) "390 people?!? You invited 390 people to our wedding?!  I don't even KNOW 390 people!!; 2.) "Your initials are LSD.  Isn't that funny?!"; 3.) "Don't 'here we go' me." | "Listen to yourself!" | "Oh, and I hate that one, too, 'listen to yourself'.  'Here we go' and 'listen to yourself'.  If you say those things in our marriage, I will scream. Do you here me?  It's good to know these things before we become husband and wife, ya know?  This is very, very healthy."; 4.) "Lindsay, I've only had two dreams my whole life...one was to pitch for the Red Sox, the other was to meet and marry the greatest woman in the whole world...one for two isn't bad....now if I could just get you to take a little medication for your mood swings..."; 5.) Lindsay surprises Bobby with an elopement at Fenway Park.  I cried (a shock, I know).  It was THE BEST!!

SEASON 5:

  • "Germ Warfare" - Lindsay and Ellenor go civil as a couple and the EPA are embroiled in a lawsuit.  I thought this was one of the best cases to date.
  • "Appeal and Denial" - Lucy finds a book and a pregnancy test and announces it to the firm.  Of course, she suspects that Lindsay is pregnant - and she is - the firm congratulates the couple as they confirm Lucy's suspicions.  BUT - Lindsay's not the only one.....and she knows it, as does Bobby, because she didn't take the pregnancy test at the office.  Is it Bec?  Lindsay thinks maybe so....but is shocked when none other than Ellenor reveals privately to Lindsay that she is pregnant.
  • "An Early Frost" - Okay, let's face it - every episode in the William Hinks saga was great, but this one was one of the three best.  Lindsay's friend (and Hinks's psychiatrist) has a *heart-attack* (NOT), and Lindsay KNOWS that Hinks murdered her - and he did, but she can't prove it, and neither can the police.  After Hinks threatens Lindsay AGAIN - a desperate Bobby goes to a former client (and known murderer) and asks him to "put the fear of God" in Hinks.  The guy ends up killing Hinks instead.
  • "Payback" - Bobby is arrested as Hinks cleverly set his answering machine on as the crime happened, recording the convo with the killer saying he was doing it for Bobby.  Lindsay is upset that Bobby didn't tell her what he did.  He apologizes.  Eugene points out to Bobby his ignorance - then procedes to take first chair in the case.  Kelli Williams is awesome in this episode as Lindsay goes to Helen and begs her to "make it go away." The B&L scenes are very good - as they are both in fear of losing each other.
  • "The Thin Line" - Bobby's trial.  It's all good, and Eugene is great.  Highpoints: Bobby takes the stand ("I got a psycho obessessed with my wife - a man who chops off heads, a man who probably murdered his own doctor who is now turning all his attention to Lindsay...was it risky to call Alan Neal, yes.  But I was not going to do nothing.  That's my wife over there....carrying my child.  I was not going to do nothing.); Lindsay goes off on Eugene, etc., after the DA eats Bobby for lunch on the stand, and the couch scene in Bobby's office following ("Let's face it, Lindsay. The line between my innocence and guilt here is a thin one...and I probably crossed it."); Bobby is acquitted of all charges; a bomb from Hinks (intended for Lindsay) goes off in the office and Lucy and Bec are left in the rubble.  WOW.
  • "The Day After" - Bec is in a coma and needs a blood transfusion.  Due to religious beliefs, her mother won't allow it, though, so, Bobby takes her to court.  He loses and gets angry at the judge.  While he is yelling "she is going to die", Lindsay's water breaks and she drops to the floor.  Bec's mom and the judge help to deliver Bobby Junior....right there, in the courtroom.

SEASON 6:

  • "Dangerous Liasons" - Just a reminder that true love lasts forever.  Bobby feels protective of a client, and Lindsay mistakes his caring for love.  At the end, though, he clears things up - telling her that she is the only woman he is in love with. Also, they say "I love you" - I don't know exactly how long it had been....but it was a LONG time since the audience got to hear that from them.
  • "Judge Knot" - This was cool.  A judge is accused of accepting bribes, and the FBI asks Bobby and Helen to help them get him.  Bobby sets him up, and the judge decides to cooperate by turning over all of the files of incrimination; though, right after he does, he shoots himself in the head in the conference.  He left Bobby a little present, though - a file (made up, of course) saying that Bobby was one of the lawyers that bribed him.  At the end, Helen shreds the file.
  • "Man and Superman" - Sounds pretty stupid, I know, but it really wasn't.  Bobby and Linday need a new nanny, and Lindsay tells Bobby to do something for his family for once and do the hiring.  It is pretty funny, as Bobby is very choosy - women running out of the office crying and him asking questions like "have you been tested for AIDS" he he he.  One woman thinks that Lucy (who is supervising) is Bobby's wife and says "Good luck being married to this PIG." he he he  In the courtroom, Lindsay and Jimmy defend a man who thinks he's superman.  The wife confesses to Lindsay that she should have accepted him for who he was, and not tried to change him.  This makes Lindsay realize her mistake with her husband.  Bobby comes to her and gives her some helpful information, and she stops him from leaving with the first kiss we've seen since the fourth season (yes, it's true).
  • "This Pud's For You" & "The Verdict" - David E Kelley remembered he had another show and came to write the last four episodes of the season.  All of them were really good, but the finale takes all.  Recap: The firm is forced to defend a cannibal, who refers to Lindsay as "Clarice" (yes, Lindsay is once again being pulled through the mud); as he scares Lindsay, Bobby - being the good and loving husband - half-a**es his closing.......BUT Eugene gets up and says they're doing some type of closing where both of them are doing it, and does perfect. He gets off.  The next episode Lindsay gets a restraining order and later shoots the guy when he comes to her and Bobby's apartment.  The finale: Bottom line, what made this awesome and completely unforgettable - Kelli Williams.  That was some of the best acting I've ever seen.  Lindsay is breaking down little by little as the case is built and tried.  It was phenomenal.  She should have gotten an Emmy for that.  No doubt.  Anyhoo, it was two episodes, back-to-back.  The first was pre-trial, the second was the trial.  Ellenor was first chair, and they used the battered-woman syndrome defense.  I cried (along with B&L and everyone else) for the third time that night as the verdict read "guilty.

***In May of 2004, the show completed its eighth and final season. However, as many others, the show ended for me when DEK ruined characters (and broke up Bobby and Lindsay) in the seventh season (in which Lindsay DID get out of jail) and later fired Dylan, Kelli, Lisa, Lara, and Marla.***

Ya know, "The Practice" has been said to be one of the greatest television dramas of our time. What makes us love it, though, is not just the amazing cases, but everything in-between: phenomenal performances, the sweet love of Bobby and Lindsay and the delicious Dylan McDermot. Dottie and I got to talking and came up with a plan - a column based on the essentials of our beloved show. So, sit back and get ready to laugh, smile, swoon.....maybe even shed a few tears...details of recent episodes and some of the best moments from the earlier years are right here...

Column Three - February, 2003

Valentine's Day Special: Bobby's Kisses

"Thanks to all the people who gave feedback on previous Dottie's Corners, esp. Kaytie, Kiosha, Anadi and Kylie and please forgive, anyone I forgot, and also thanks for encouragement from Carolyn, Flora, Edene and most importantly a very special thanks and a Valentine's Day smooch for YOU COURT!!! for giving so much support and joy and researching the names of all the eps- a task that would otherwise be grueling, if it weren't surrounded by...sigh..his kiss."

Court and I had been discussing one our all time fave eps – Boston Confidential and she was hoping that I could do a little column about that. And I was totally willing, ready and able- I mean it’s one of my if not most of fanfic’s fave eps right- what more could you want- it OPENS with a naked Dylan – and there’s THREE count them THREE B&L scenes (which SHOULD become a standard for the show if you ask ME) not to mention plenty of Bobby besides that – including the first glimpse we ever got of his beautiful feet (doesn’t he have adorable toes?) AND that immortal line, said in that perfect inflection of admiration, adoration and bemused chiding to a little bit of a badboyBobbie by a suddenly clued in Lindsay: “Bobby Donnell”. ………sigh……..so fine…

Well you may think that writing an entire column on this would be right up my alley, my personal cup of tea so to speak (threw that metaphor in for our English/Aussie friends – we actually don’t have tea time in America) . But the column never happened. What DID happen is that whenever I replayed the tape of that opening scene with a beautiful naked Bobby (this is the WAY television was meant to be wouldn’t you agree?) and he’s looking at Lindsay and just about to lower his gorgeous face in a passion-exploding kiss…….Lindsay broke into giggles…heeheheheeheee…...and then every time I watched the …scene, I broke into giggles too…heeheheeheeehee…...I couldn’t help it…heeeteeeheeeteeeheee……...I mean, I know I was supposed to be writing something…gurglegiggleteeheeheheheh………but as soon as Lindsay started giggling, ……heeeeheheee……..I started giggling…………ahaahaahahaheeeehhheeee…….. and what’s worse is that anytime I got to thinking about his……aheeeheheeeee,,,,,,, kiss……………..blush…giggle…giggle…chortle……..heeeheheheeeeheheehe……… and that whispered groan (where he says: “Oh, that’s good,” - you have to turn the sound up but believe me, you can hear it clear as day- I have it on tape and he says, in a whispered moan: “Ah, Dottie, that feels soooooooo good”…well that’s what it sounded like to ME anyway….other televisions may have different frequencies or such)………….and then when he kisses me………ah..uh………I mean Lindsay……….well…………gigglegigglechortle..ah there was a point to this paragraph wasn’t there? Oh yeah whenever I see that kiss……heeeehhhheheee……….I can’t write anything cause I’m still …heeheehee………giggling…that’s all you can hear from me is giggles……..and believe me, with THAT scene, any other sounds that are emanating from this writer are ones you wouldn’t want your delicate ears to hear….after all, this ain’t a triple x rated site yet.

So then I started thinking………(and yes, I may remind the gentle reader that a thought has wandered into this* Bobby sided brain *Trademark by Kiosha , who was valiantly trying to interest me in an ep that had nothing to do with Bobby one day, and bearing defeat as well as anyone, coined this little self explanatory monitor for me and my……….predicament.) and yes, I DO think and it’s not ONLY about Bobby – not really…I think bout lotsa things..sometimes it’s about Bobby but then often it’s about someone totally unrelated like………..Dylan. And the point of this entire ramble is that after viewing even ONE of his luscious kisses, it is apparent to any woman who is breathing, DYLAN IS the ABSOLUTE BEST KISSER IN THE UNIVERSE!!!! I know that I have mentioned what a great and talented ACTOR the blue-eyed hunk from heaven is, but let’s fact it- no matter how great an actor he is, how creative an artist he is- you can’t FAKE THAT!!!!.. Anyway, as I was saying, I started…ah…. thnking………….that was probably my most favorite of Bobby’s kisses in the entire Practice – especially because he was naked under that sheet, and particularly ‘cause it showed his lovely Lindsay wrapping her leg around his gorgeous body and it would have been PERFECT if it wasn’t for that idiot Helen barging in on them…I mean this was before Lara learned how to divert herself by dating octogenarians and wearing costumes from the Nutcracker to the Golden Globes, so she had nothing else to do I guess…

But the point is, I was thinking that as perfect as that scene was, there was a little problem since it really was a sort of Kissus Interruptus…and then I realized there were some OTHER kisses of Bobby’s that were my faves….and I figured why not write about that? After all this column, is supposed to be devoted to the IMPORTANT and ESSENTIAL parts of the show, and heaven knows that between DEK and ABC we have seen enough of the nonessential parts of the show (my word, would you believe how heavy they’ve been on the TRIALS recently?!, you would think this is actually a legal drama or something) – and what could be more important or essential than Bobby’s kisses!!!?

In fact, isn’t that what the show should be about- and actually it sorta is to ME so I thought I’d share a few thoughts about the delicious man’s lips with you and hence was born this latest column– (btw- if you like – you can always write in and mention which is YOUR fave Bobby’s kiss) Anyway, right off the bat I thought, well probably my really, absolutely favorite Bobby kiss took place at the office Christmas Party (Love and Honor – Season 3) ……ooooooooooooooo…………mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…that was sooooooooo sweet and it was when B&L reunited AT LAST…and I just loved the expressions on Bobby’s face then- he was just so absolutely adorable and after gently and determinedly chasing Lindsay for episodes on end to again make her his own true beloved, he was just like a shy boy before that kiss- he needed and desired and wanted to be with her again so VERY much, and all the time leading up to it, he was quietly seductive, moving ahead gently gently, almost shyly but steadily - but this time he let he take the lead – and wouldn’t ya know it,right after that vowing a hefty resolution not to become involved again, and poor tenderhearted Bobby so headoverheelsinlove that he agreed, well, just to agree with her I guess: Lindsay gave him the most gentle, barely a seconds long kiss- and WHOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! all those resolutions went right out the window, because it took only one touch of that gorgeous boys soft and luscious, tender and loving kiss to keep her liplocked all night and lovestruck forever! It was BEAUTIFUL – probably the best kiss in the history of the universe…and it was so cute when she first kissed him and he stammers “Uh…Dottie …I can’t take it, Dottie, don’t stop…..please oh please kiss me again”(again, I can only speak for the maker of MY television set here, you may have heard something different on yours, but as I’ve mentioned, I’m no expert in electronics).. Anyway, Bobby DOES get kissed again and WOW does he kiss her back, it’s amazing my t.v. didn’t explode and melt down right then, cause I sure did….anyway, I would vote for that as my favorite kiss, my absolute favorite…..except that then I got to thinking about a few other of Bobby’s kisses and realized that not only was each EXCEPTIONAL and PERFECT, but also that each kiss showed a different aspect of Bobby’s inner soul…and as beautiful as Bobby is outside, he really is just as gorgeous inside. And when he kisses, it’s so fine to see every aspect of his inner beauty, not to mention that most of these kisses were accompanied by his…gasp…outer beauty…like his FACE…and those EYES…and his warm strong lightly furred chest, and his hard muscled arms that enfold in tender embrace and his long lean sinewy legs and….uh…ah….well, in the interest of not starting another heat age, I’ll leave the rest to the reader’s well equipped imagination. Suffice to say there are as many moods to Bobby’s lips as there are aspects to his gorgeous….gasp….pant…body.

To start with the first B&L kiss - which we had to wait an entire season for - (Save the Mule 2) well that is probably the HOTTEST B&L kiss, not to mention the hottest scene in the history of television, silent movies and prehistoric cavemen art. No one watching for the first time had a clue that Bobby and Dottie (sorry, there seems to be some sort of trouble with the hard drive again, of course we’re talking about B&L) were having a clandestine affair until Lindsay is sitting within the heated circle of his arm on the couch…and she decides they should have one last…ah…kiss for old times sake- and MAN what a kiss; she smooched him four times and left him looking like a hungry passionate adolescent tiger, who didn’t know what hit him- I mean, his jaw actually DROPPED – and then she kissed him a few MORE times just to make sure he got the pointLOL! Well, it’s not like he didn’t know what to do with HIS jaw…or his lips…and arms and hands and chest, man and even his feet, he was shedding her clothes faster than a speeding bullet…and Bobby’s kisses wandered fervently all over her body, at least whatever you could show on prime time t.v.….and btw although it isn’t actually a kiss, I don’t know a woman alive who wouldn’t sell her grandmother and/or her first born child in exchange for a succulent grab at Bobby’s beautiful round behind…man that’s when DEK really knew how to write a good solid plot..….so yeah that was actually the HOTHOTHOT side of Bobby and also, since he let his lady take the lead to a dizzying array of kisses, it showed him as being VERY approachable (quite important for a lawyer to be accessible ya know, it’s very crucial for his legal success, so it definitely had some relevance to the story…uh…ah…..whatever THAT was)….This amazing kiss, ironically, was also the start of Lindsay’s misguided attempt of cooling her relationship from the hottest sexiest man in the universe!!!!- as she uttered that immortal and self-delusional line: “This is the last time.” HAH! She must have underestimated the effect of Bobby’s addictive kisses, though fortunately that resolution was about as steadfast as the ‘leading with her head’ resolution from the aforementioned Christmas party. (Unfortunately DEK seems to have taken that vow to heart and during Season 5, there was not even ONE Bobby kiss during the full dour extent of that season, which shall rightfully be ignored in its entirety here.)

Stupidly, Bobby took his kiss somewhere else for the rest of the season and in the interest of expediency and in some cases, for medical reasons (to keep me from barfing) we are omitting any kisses that were extended to any other characters in the show, around the show, or during crossovers from any other anorectic shows. Suffice to say, the B&L were both hungering for each other’s kisses, tho it was hard to get them to admit it, at first. But sometime during the Pearson trial, Bobby started craving a certain someone direly- which led to one of the sweetest kisses, even tho it was’ just’ on her forehead, in (Body Count- 3 ) when L is so distraught over the plight of her professor and what kind of person she thinks she’s becoming as a lawyer- and Bobby kisses her so softly and sweetly on the forehead and he folds her and holds her in his loving caring embrace…it is a caring and compassionate kiss, but sexy too ‘cause it’s so loving and shows us the reason the Bobby is so very beautiful in and out…he cannot help but care, cannot help but nurture and comfort….you hear his briefcase clatter to the floor, an indication that he would forsake even his psychological Achilles heel: work- all to embrace his darling true love, and that his heart is warm and true and full even tho they haven’t kissed in so long but……...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………ohhhhhhhhhhh….it’s AMAZING how just the TOUCH of his lips ANYWHERE can be so comforting….(Lord knows it comforted ME and I seemed to hear a chorus of assertions to that extent from fanfic whenever a discussion of that ep aroused…uh …I meant arose.)

But Bobby wasn’t about to stop there – thankfully – and during the best of the Pearson eps,(The Battlefield) Bobby is comforting Lindsay over the perils of the trial …and she is talking to him about it and apologizing for being upset and taking it out on him and we discover that he doesn’t mind ATALL, ya see, he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO in love with her and understands her so much better now, that all he can say is that the firm is “entire firm is there for her.” And then…gasp…he takes a step closer, and I swear that infrared heat waves actually were emanating from his body (if not mine) and he says: “I’M here for you, you know that, right?” And Lindsay can’t even speak straight now…a very good sign ..nice things happen when either of them start stammering imho….and he doesn’t let her finish the thought……….FINALLY after months of yearning, he kisses her…oh YUM…and she gazes back into the most astoundingly handsome face in this or any other dimension…and she KISSES HIM RIGHT BACK!!…YAY!…and then, as if he was at peace at LAST, he leans into her, as she is folded in those gorgeous arms and that sweet embrace, and closes his eyes…as if this is a dream come true and all he needs to do is float there together forever, their bodies hugging and their kiss so reassuringly close....and yes this is really probably the very best B&L kiss EVER and shows that Bobby is so sweet and dear, that he is just DRIVEN by love, not too mention oooozing with hotness, and the only unfortunate part is that of this ep is that I have had to tape and retape it several times - as each time I replay and rewind and replay and rewind, the tape gets a little….ah….fuzzy.

Well after that kiss, believe it or not, Lindsay hasn’t yet jumped on him and ravished him on the couch, the conference table or the chandelier, as certainly anyone ELSE would have by now(OMG I would have been swinging from the ceiling by now..but ah..that’s just….me) but it seems Lindsay is still a little…well ..shy… about getting reinvolved I guess……so Bobby appears at Helen and Lindsay’s door during a food fight – now this wasn’t actually a KISS, exactly, but I thought the tender tracing of his thumb on L’s flour soaked lips was pretty darn nice!….and it must have meant something to her, even tho she was sputtering yet another vow or rationalization or whatever nonsense had been in her head, since shortly after, we were treated to a Christmas party and the aforementioned gorgeous Boston Confidential kiss.

Of course the most romantic and tender of kisses was at the end of Season 3 (Happily Ever After – 3) - and really I don’t know why it took so long for me to get here, because this really is probably my REALLY DEFINITELY all time favorite kisses AND episodes!!!!) when Bobby proposes and OMG!!!!! was he adorable then- between trying to battle off Helen (can anyone tell me why none of those cannibals or headhunters have stalked HER,btw, if ever a person deserved it…) so he can propose, and that adorable hopeful but nervous look on his face and then ..OH! …she says YES…. and how cute he was, feeling around his body for the ring (now if I’D been on the set, I would have gladly examined every part of his suit jacket to find that ring, and if need be, his shirt, his slacks and any other clothes in the immediate vicinity)–what a look he had on his face when she said yes, slightly shaking his head and smiling as he looked down so adoringly as if he couldn’t believe that his precious Dottie would be his bride…(look we all know I have no control over this computer, so if it types my name instead of Lindsay’s well…until I can hire a professional programmer, we’ll just have to leave it as is) .…and despite Helens obnoxious caution that he couldn’t do anything cause she had ‘tubes all over her’ – we see Bobby triumphed once again..cause he did give her the most LOVING, TENDER CARESSING and ROMANTIC and SENSUAL and GORGEOUS kiss of the season and that’s no small feat considering how many great kisses he’s already given me…uh..oopps…I mean, Lindsay. By the way, thanks to Court I have realized that Season 3 was the most kissworthy and all round worthy season of the entire Practice run so far, so hopefully when the show comes out on DVD, those budget minded viewers can be happily aware of which season to purchase.

At this point, I have to mention that I am a little ill equipped to discuss the two most sexiest kisses ever in the history of romance!!! – Firstly, the one on Bobby's desk (Lawyers, Reporters & Cockroaches ) and secondly, the one where he says “ you’re a partner – mine”(Split Decisions – 3) and then he kisses her so moistly and hotly and they shred each others clothes and proceed to make love passionately……..The problem with this is that there is something wrong with the technology of VCRs, and through no fault or certainly no intention of my own, I have NO copies of these kisses….the first was one of the glitch eps I had when I first encountered the rare and wonderful worlds of VCRs in that I thought I was taping a Practice ep, but somehow got something else on the tape, like a football game or some has -been fighter extolling the virtues of grilled chicken on an infomercial….the second great kiss was recorded, but for some strange reason, after I had viewed and reviewed it a mere dozen or hundred times (for the pure matters of research ONLY) there came a time when EVERYTHING ON MY VCR started getting FUZZY!!!!!!!and that entire scene, from kiss to bed and everything including Bobby’s toothbrush, was somehow rendered into a…. fuzzy ….wuzzy…unviewable…. mush. So I hope YOU are all enjoying those eps whenever you rerun them, but I, alas, cannot comment on them.

Well kisses started coming in shorter supply by the end of Season 4, and Lindsay was rightfully worried about that- During the Cigar episode (Blowing Smoke 4), Bobby tries to reassure Lindsay that he hasn’t lost his passion for her and smooches her right in the office…very softly and reassuringly and sweet and all too short, but left L licking her lips none the less (of course if it were ME, I woulda been licking HIS lips)…but that was a darling ep and showed Bobby’s compassionate loving loyal side and gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside , and even tho they didn’t kiss – I would also like to mention that the very last scene was soooooo fine, that it was a great contributing factor to the untimely demise of my VCR, which for some odd reason develops very odd habits when one tries to replay a scene one or two or 3 hundred times.

In last scene, as he looks at her, and now he knows he beloved Lindsay so well; her moods, her fears, her inner soul - he searches in his heart for the exact thing to ease her mind and assure her of his undying love and his eyes so warm and full of love and caring, he looks at her and says: I’m never going to stop loving you. ” and folds his relieved fiance in his arms – well that scene must have done a wonderful favor to the American economy because I’m sure the entire fanfic population turned into melted goo, necessitating the purchase of thousands of mops, not to mention exploding VCRs. That Bobby. Not only is he loyal, but he’s even more patriotic than Eugene.

We had a long wait til the wedding, which everyone in the firm was beginning to wonder if it was going to happen……..except Bobby. Ya see, Bobby doesn’t always show it, but from the minute he kisses his darling bride to be, he knew that things were only going to get better, that his heart was handed over to her like a puppy fetching a flower, that he wanted nothing more to be the light in her life and the light in his beautiful eyes showed it, even when his words failed…and when Bobby found himself looking at his bride approaching in that ballfield – when he gazed at his bride to be, when they married…well, there’s no doubt about it that was the FINEST most LOVING most indescribably BEAUTIFUL and DEEP and HEARTFELT kiss EVER anywhere in the history of mankind and the universe and since and including the birth of Adam and Eve, that was without a doubt the BEST KISS!!!! I also would like to mention at this time that I don’t think Bobby has ever looked more handsome and loving, so amazingly gorgeous beyond words!!!!!I mean the VCR hasn’t been invented that could withstand that kiss….as I can attest to. I have heard Kelli Williams complaining on talk shows that she doesn’t get to kiss Dylan on screen anymore, and I’m sure that trying to hold over from that wedding kiss alone (which was 21/2 YEARS ago……..wahhhhhhhhhhhh) is the source of her very justified wail.

We only got a brief glimpse of a kiss and had to wait an ENITIRE SEASON for it, I mean what the heck does DEK have in his MIND!!!! Anymore! – I really think there’s been some sort of brain damage to him or something in not moving ahead with more B&L kisses and wasting an entire season and a half with NO B&L kisses is the man INSANE!!!…….well, no use going on with that for now after all we DID get a lot of kisses and we’re not closemouthed yet…….and the last kiss (Man and Superman – ) was really the only lip to lip B&L kiss we saw up through the end of Season 6, and even tho it was SHORT I thought it was so DEAR…B&L had been having a sort of scuffle over daycare issues and then B came by to help Lindsay with her case, but it really was to try and make up with her and then she had second thoughts about being annoyed at him because as everyone knows B is just the sweetest most darling boy underneath it all….and L called him back to her as he was leaving the hall and all he needed to hear was “Bobby.”….and he turned right back to her, and as she came to him, he opened his soft sensual lipped mouth to kiss her and that’s really how it’s always been hasn’t it? I have always said that the sexiest thing about Dylan is his lips that always look ready for kissing (well that’ s besides the eyes….and the face…..sigh…and the muscled hard chest with that lovely fluff of hair descending to parts that even DEK hasn’t yet deemed screenworthy tho thankthelord our loyal writers at fanfic have and..uh ..ah..well..I guess it’s time to sort of wind up here now)….and as Bobby walked away, he flashed her the most AMAZING SMILE and that kiss was STILL in his smile, tho it’s really hard to see unless you stop the VCR and freeze frame it and that was about the time that my VCR finally and totally and irrevocably fizzled out, necessitating the purchase of a new one, which has gotten plenty of action lately, due to the research necessary in writing this very column. And btw, in case I haven’t mentioned it by now, THIS was my favorite kiss too and yes, they’re all MY FAVE kisses, cause they are BOBBY’S KISSES and he’s got the best kiss! EVER!!!!

And just to be sure that everything’s in working order, the VCR that is…and the tapes of the show, course…not to mention..sigh..his kiss….and to check that I’ve edited this column properly and that I haven’t left a single kiss untouched…I think I’lre-review a few more eps now, and wish you ALL a Happy Valentine’s Day and hope that you all know how AMAZING sweet and sexy Bobby’s kisses are. And as I review those delicious old tapes, I can only conclude by saying….. ah.....oooooo...mmmm.....~Dottie

UH...DOTTIE???? DOT ???YOU THERE???- (GASPS) WELL, FOLKS, IT APPEARS THAT DOTTIE HAS MELTED INTO GOO ON DYLAN'S BEHALF ONCE AGAIN...ANYBODY GOT A MOP!!? WHEN/WHERE

FX Networks: Repeats are shown Monday-Friday at 11am/10am central, and whenever they feel like it on weeknights (this isn't a joke). If you prefer to catch the show at night (which most people do of course), the best days to look for it are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11pm/10pm central. When they started showing it on this network, it was constant at 9pm/8pm central (even showing marathons and 2 back-to-back episodes every night in the first November), but after the seasons were shown in full two or three times, it got bizarre. However, morning episodes have only been pre-empted by racing or something on rare occasions.

WB Network
: Repeats are shown on Saturdays at 4pm/3pm central, and on Sundays at 11pm/10pm central.

NBC/ABC Network: This actually depends on where you live. Some cities don't get these showings at all (unless you have satellite television). Check your local listings for the repeats of the 4pm/3pm showing on the WB on late late Saturday nights (11:35pm) and early Sunday mornings (12:35am).
